My family moved here from the Gorbals in the 50’s. My dad loved it and I’ve heard lots of stories including about the local Teddy Boys.

I remember John Wright when I was very young ,living on west mains road .. my family were McShane ,well known as there were so many of them who lived in the village and worked at The Rolls Royce ...lovely video

I don't know if you can remember, but my dad was in the ekloc probably near the start. His name is Leo.t?nard Johnson. He was the leading man in most productions alongside his leading lady who's husband was the director ,sorry I have forgotten names. They were my friends from when the theatre was on a Saturday morning, to a dress rehearsal in the afternoon/evening. My dad will be 90 on the 2nd of February 2024. I think that you should at least send a card in appreciation of his dedication to your ongoing work with g&s. I am sure you have his address somewhere, I don't want to put it on here. I think he would really like the thought

They had pit ponies as my grandfather was the blacksmith within the mine. It had its railway station and my father brought my mother there. It was a bit of an event as she was a Londoner. My brother and sister made visits to their grandparents as well. My dads eldest sister took advantage of a scheme to send young women to Australia and New Zealand. Another went to the States as a war bride. One married a local miner and a ore worked in Service. My father stayed down south raising his family. Our home being really modern up against the homes in Wilson Town.

I lived in Mains East from 1952 until I emigrated to Australia in 1963. The film brings back many happy memories. Thank you. Ian Stewart

As a former pupil of st cadocs the 95 class that started , we were throwing bricks and bottles fights seperated by a 3ft lane n none of us had a clue why or the reason it was more yer family stories ye hear n there were different from us , at i time of having not a clue what catholic and protestant was all i knew was there wee huns who loved england and queen n told we worship the pope and any irealand as a fenian this is in primary 1 so it starts there n then as people grow opinions form and people mature they have there familys regurjitating the shit they had been fed brainwashing before primary i knew none of tht, apart from grandad stories we were a 2nd class monority people who had to stick together in community to overcome there slight disadvantages of being catholic /, job advertisements "no catholics need apply , no chapel in my area till 1994 its used to be helf in bacl of a lock up this is only 26 years ago but its good to see they want to make difference as i said we should have integrated school so it could have taught us together side by side no divisions or that
